Here's Why Sledge Is Being Built: A Platform for Real-World Experiences
๐๏ธDo Things. Get Things Done.
Why We're Building Sledge, and Where It's Headed
In a time where everything's online โ from shopping to meetings to entertainment โ one thing has remained frustratingly hard: simply organizing something to do in person.
Whether it's a beach day with friends, a tennis session with a new coach, or a small creative workshop, the process of setting it up, collecting payments, and getting people to commit still feels like a hassle. That's where Sledge comes in.
๐ฏOur Mission Is Simple
To make it easier for anyone to create, host, and join real-world experiences.
We're not just another event app or marketplace. Sledge is an experiences platform โ a space where everyday people can share skills, organize happenings, and offer services to their local communities.
But instead of going live with a bloated feature set, we're starting with what matters most: Letting users host and manage experiences.
๐ซWhat You Can Do with Sledge (Right Now)
At launch, Sledge lets users:
โข Create and describe an experience they want to host โ from a picnic to a pottery class.
โข Share that experience with friends, followers, or the public.
โข Handle signups, bookings, and shared costs directly within the app.
โข Present it beautifully โ with a visual identity and a clear breakdown of what's happening.
So whether you're a hobbyist inviting people to a weekend football game, or a group of friends splitting costs for a boat party, Sledge formalizes the idea and helps make it real.
This also means we're creating a better way for small-scale experiences to emerge โ outside the world of event planners and agencies. Sledge gives power back to the people, helping you say: "Here's what I'm doing. Want in?"
๐กHow It All Started
Sledge began as a solution to a personal pain point.
"I was trying to monetize my skills as a tennis player, but everything felt disjointed โ no clear platform, no way to structure a session or gather interest. It felt like the only way to get things done was through fragmented personal networks."
That experience sparked something deeper. From informal learning sessions to DIY wellness services, there was a pattern:
People wanted to share their time, skills, and energy โ but lacked the tools to do it cleanly and confidently.
After building AI solutions at Tesla and co-launching ventures in AI safety, Noah knew one thing for sure:
Technology should empower people to connect more meaningfully in the real world.
๐งThe Evolution of the Idea
Sledge began as a personal side project to simplify booking activities and meetups. Drawing from past lessons in previous ventures, the concept quickly grew beyond simple scheduling. What started with tennis sessions and casual meetups evolved into a more versatile experience platform.
1. Simple Activities App โ for things like tennis or gym meetups
2. Informal Learning โ adding music, languages, skills
3. Self & Community-Care โ massage, self-defense, group support
4. All Types of Services โ helping you find someone nearby for a task
5. Swiss Army Knife โ a flexible ecosystem for both doing and getting things done
Today, we think of Sledge as that Swiss Army knife: simple at first glance, surprisingly versatile once you start using it.
๐What's Next?
Right now, we're focused on helping people host and join experiences.
Next up: unlocking the ability to request them.
Imagine being able to say:
"I want to learn to DJ this weekend โ anyone nearby available?"
And having someone answer that call, directly.
It's coming soon โ but only after we've nailed the foundation: hosting, signing up, and sharing costs.
